Connecting your LinkedIn to ama without the extension

Can’t install the ama Chrome extension? Sometimes your IT or device management (RT) settings block it. You can still connect your LinkedIn account to ama manually — this video walks through how to do it without the extension.

If you can’t download the ama browser extension, don’t worry — there’s a workaround.

For that, go to your LinkedIn account at linkedin.com. Right-click anywhere on the page to open this box, and look for the Inspect option. Once you click it, you open the developer tools. Now look for the Application tab — if you can’t see it up here, click these two arrows and you’ll see Application right there.

Click on the Cookies section, specifically the LinkedIn cookies. This is basically how we connect your LinkedIn to ama — using cookies. In the filter, search for li_a. If you have a LinkedIn Recruiter or Sales Navigator account, you’ll see both li_a and li_at. If you only have a premium LinkedIn account or a regular LinkedIn account, you’ll only see li_at.

Now go back to ama. At the top right you’ll see your initials — click there, then Profile. You’re directed to this page, which helps you connect ama with LinkedIn. Click Connect, and now we need to put those cookies in. Let’s get the li_at, press Cmd+C to copy, come back here and Cmd+V to paste. Then the li_a, same thing — copy and paste. You only need to fill this one in if you have a Recruiter or Sales Navigator subscription; if you don’t, just leave it blank.

Click Log in, and there you go — now you have ama connected to your LinkedIn account.
